This year, so difficult for our country, the New Ukrainian School reform, having covered the primary school, moves to the basic one. On 1 September, Ukrainian 5th-graders will start studying under the new State Standard for Basic Secondary Education.
This will be a new experience not only for schoolchildren and their parents. Teaching teams will have to prepare thoroughly as well. There will be a need in new study curricula.
For most colleagues, the phrase «drawing up a curriculum» is associated with a large number of papers, lost files, tables that «live their own lives» and lose data as well as many other problems.
Fortunately, now we have an opportunity to say good-bye to calculations relying on calculators, papers and endless file versions. We will be assisted by a toolkit «Curriculum Constructor».
The toolkit has been developed by the Learning Together project with the support of the MoES, the Ukrainian Institute for Education Development and the Reform Support Team of the MoES specifically so that curriculum finally ceases to be a headache for the principal, but becomes a source of inspiration for the entire school team.
What can the Constructor do?
● It offers a ready-made solution addressing an academic load.
● It helps make sure that the distributed hours in the curriculum meet all the requirements.
● It prompts which combinations of educational components are possible and which are not.
● It provides access to an exhaustive list of model study programs that are classified as “recommended by the MoES”.
● It tells how many hours can be in reserve and how to use them.
● It generates as many variable solutions of work plans as necessary.
● It makes it possible to save the documents you have created.
● It allows sharing documents with teammates.
Who can access the toolkit?
● Heads of educational institutions and their teams.
● NUS coordinators from In-service Teacher Training Institutions.
The Constructor has already been tested in pilot educational institutions and received positive feedback. So join us. To do this, you need to take the first step – register at: constructor.nus.org.ua.
