On June 2, the 3d module of the Academy of Effective School Management course for newly appointed school principals began

Despite the war, teachers are courageously defending the educational front and preparing for the start of a new school year according to the new State Standard and New Ukrainian School concepts because they believe that the soldiers of the Armed Forces will preserve peace and freedom in Ukraine!

“Education is the most powerful weapon that can change the world“,

said Nelson Mandela, the Nobel Laureate

The participants were warmly welcomed by Ari Pokka, the author of the course, who stressed the importance of wise and proper management of the institution in wartime and the psychological support of teaching and student teams. The participants were pleasantly surprised to watch a video from a member of the Academy, who is currently defending Ukraine in the Armed Forces.

The webinar was dedicated to the autonomy of an educational institution in curriculum design.

Together with Yulia Romanenko, an expert from the MoES Reform Support Team, the heads and deputy heads of educational institutions learned:

  • what is the curriculum of the institution and what kind of place does it occupy among other New Ukrainian School study programs;
  • how to develop a curriculum in compliance with all regulatory requirements;
  • how to implement the autonomy of a school team in the curriculum;
  • how to develop the best education plan/calendar properly;
  • what is a “Curriculum Designer” and how it will help design a curriculum?

During the interactive tasks, we made sure that:

  • the importance of each educational area cannot be measured in hours;
  • the experience of colleagues in curriculum and education plan/calendar design should be borrowed in a clear-eyed manner;
  • it is necessary to start developing an education plan not with the distribution of hours, but with studying the inquiries of educational process actors.
